American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a large Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience with strong trauma case independence.

Job Details

• Acute care Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds,

• Operating Room unit serving a complex surgical patient population including trauma, craniotomy, vascular, endovascular, and robotic cases,

• 3x12-hour shifts with a rotating day/evening/night schedule based on unit needs,

• Schedules are issued in 6-week blocks and distributed 2 weeks in advance; travelers are generally placed on night shifts for approximately one week per schedule block,

• Day shift: 7:00-19:00;
Night shift: 19:00-7:00,

• Weekend availability required,

• On-call required, with a maximum of 2 on-call shifts per week; on-call shifts are typically scheduled on already-assigned workdays but may occasionally fall on separate days,

• Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated,

• Charting via Epic,

• Parking available at approximately $125/month,

Job Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted,

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,

• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required,

• Must be able to circulate independently; scrub experience highly preferred,

• Must be independent with all trauma cases, craniotomy, vascular, and endovascular procedures,

• Robotics and orthopedic experience strongly preferred,

• Prior experience in a large trauma center setting required,

• Active nursing license must be free of any prior disciplinary actions,

• 1 professional reference required for consideration,

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for this position,

• Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to work as a traveler,

• RTO of up to 7 days may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval,

• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted,

• COVID-19 vaccination exemptions are accepted for religious or medical reasons only,

• Royal blue scrubs required,
