Overview:

* Full-time Advanced Practice Provider (PA/APRN) Surgical Float supporting multiple surgical services as needed, including Trauma/Emergency General Surgery, Colorectal, Bariatric/MIS, Transplant, Endocrine Surgery, and Surgical Oncology
* Provides flexible inpatient and perioperative coverage across high-acuity surgical service lines based on departmental needs
* Schedule includes three (3) 12-13 hour shifts per week, with rotation of 3 weeks of day shifts and 1 week of night shifts per month supporting Transplant, Endocrine Surgery, and Colorectal call pool coverage
* Manages evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care of surgical patients in collaboration with attending surgeons and multidisciplinary teams
* Performs inpatient consults, daily rounds, admissions, discharges, and perioperative management as appropriate to scope
* Supports both acute care and operating room (OR) environments, assisting with surgical workflows and perioperative coordination
* Participates in on-call coverage as part of designated surgical service pools (Transplant, Endocrine Surgery, Colorectal)
* Strong preference for prior acute care and/or OR experience in a surgical or hospital-based setting
* New graduate APPs (PA/APRN) welcome to apply and participate in structured onboarding and training
* Demonstrates adaptability across multiple surgical specialties while maintaining high standards of patient safety, quality, and collaboration with surgical teams

Responsibilities

* The Physician Assistant (PA) or the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. The NP/PA, whether the practice setting is the inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient settings, provides optimal patient care, from diagnostic to prognostic matters. This individual works in collaboration with the attending supervising/collaborating physician(s) in accordance with state law and hospital regulations, hospital policy, protocols and clinical pathways and may provide autonomous team based care.
