Job Summary
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in New Haven, Connecticut. The role focuses on comprehensive patient care in a high‑volume obstetric setting, providing clinical support, education, and quality improvement during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
Essential Work Functions- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations.
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols.
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
- Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.
- One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification.
- STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC).
- Other certifications and licenses may enhance candidacy.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions; proficiency with PC skills.
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Effective teamwork and professionalism with multidisciplinary staff.
- Fine motor skills for procedural assistance and equipment use.
- Mental resilience to frequent public contact, high‑pressure situations, and irregular schedules.
- Visual acuity and effective communication.

- Hours:
36 hours per week, 12‑hour day shifts. - Compensation:
Pay package based on 12‑hour shifts; tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
