Position: Travel RN - Operating Room - Cardiovascular OR/CVOR

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a large Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center, requiring the ability to independently scrub and circulate cardiac surgery cases.

Requirements
  • Active CT or compact RN license required; pending license accepted but must be active prior to start date
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required
  • Must be able to independently scrub cardiac surgery cases and circulate
  • Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
  • No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Responsibilities
  • Work in a Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) at a large, Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center with 1,500+ staffed beds
  • Short‑term acute care hospital setting
  • Average patient ratio of 1:2
  • Schedule is 36 hrs/week (3x12s) or 40 hrs/week (2x12s and 2x8s); no 4x10 schedules available
  • Shifts run 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 10:45 AM–7:15 PM
  • Every other Monday required for OR coverage at this campus
  • Two on‑call shifts required per M‑F week (either 7:00 PM–11:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM), plus one late‑stay availability per week
  • Two 24‑hour call shifts required per schedule block
  • Floating within scope of practice required to meet facility needs
  • Charting via Epic EMR
  • Hospital‑provided scrubs
  • First‑time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
  • RTO of up to 7 days may be auto‑approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval
  • Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required; religious or medical exemptions are accepted
  • Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as required by the facility
  • One professional reference is required for consideration
  • Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month
