Job Description About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing, RN for an amazing opportunity in Macomb County (New Haven, Michigan). This is a strong opportunity for a nursing leader who has hands‑on experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or addiction recovery and is ready to step into a highly visible leadership role.

The right candidate will be a licensed RN with inpatient psychiatric experience and prior nursing leadership experience. This role is ideal for someone who understands the pace, complexity, and importance of behavioral health nursing and wants to help lead a team focused on safety, quality care, and compassionate patient support.

This is an on‑site leadership position with no remote option.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is not just another nursing leadership role. You will be helping guide the daily operations of a psychiatric nursing department while supporting patient safety, staff development, compliance, and quality outcomes.

You will work closely with nursing leadership to ensure patients receive safe, respectful, and clinically appropriate care. You will also play a key role in mentoring staff, supporting operations, improving processes, and helping maintain a positive and professional care environment.

For an RN leader who wants meaningful work in behavioral health, this role offers both impact and long‑term career growth.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Work closely with nursing leadership to improve the quality of patient care and nursing services
  • Support daily nursing operations within an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting
  • Help ensure patient care is delivered safely, professionally, and in compliance with all applicable standards
  • Assist with staffing needs, scheduling, resource utilization, and department workflow
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance support to nursing staff
  • Help identify staff education needs and support training initiatives
  • Respond to crisis situations and assist with incident review and follow‑up
  • Support documentation standards and continuity of care processes
  • Help develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality initiatives
  • Serve as a leadership presence for the nursing team in the absence of the Director of Nursing
  • Provide direct patient care as needed
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, empathy, and professionalism
Who This Role Is Best For

This role is a strong fit for an RN leader who has worked in inpatient psychiatric care and understands what it takes to support both patients and staff in a behavioral health environment.

You may be a strong fit if you are currently a Nurse Manager, Assistant Director of Nursing, Clinical Nurse Leader, House Supervisor, Nursing Supervisor, or an experienced behavioral health RN leader looking for the next step in your career.

Requirements
  • Current RN license in the state of Michigan
  • At least two years of registered nursing experience required
  • Inpatient psychiatric RN experience required
  • One or more years of behavioral health, psychiatric, addiction recovery, or…
