Provide clinical care as part of an interdisciplinary team in inpatient cardiovascular medicine. Work in collaboration with supervising physicians and adhere to state law, hospital policy, protocols, and clinical pathways. Provide assessment, triage, diagnostic and therapeutic management, and may provide autonomous team‑based care where scope of practice allows.
Responsibilities- Assess, triage, and manage patient/family needs throughout the disease process.
- Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, order and review diagnostic tests, formulate and manage treatment plans; perform procedures and prescribe treatments as permitted.
- Act as first or second assistant on operative cases within scope and educational prerequisites.
- Respond to emergency situations per YNHHS parameters.
- Educate patients and families on care, treatment plans, medications, side‑effects, and discharge instructions.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Ensure accurate documentation and protect patient information from unauthorized disclosure.
- Demonstrate high ethical, professional, and compassionate standards; maintain compliance with regulations and standards.
- Engage in professional development, serve as resource or preceptor for new staff, and participate in quality improvement, research, and protocol development.
- Education
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Experience
- Clinical experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line preferred; not required.
- APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, CNMs must be appointed to YNHHS Medical Staff and provide evidence of current competence.
- Licensure
- Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS certified; DEA license if indicated.
- Pediatric profile: PALS; neonatal: NRP certification when required.
- Additional licenses or certifications may be required, such as Connecticut Registered Nurse License, Nurse Practitioner License, board specialty certification, ACLS/BLS, DEA.
