Registered Nurse (Internal Traveler)
This position is an Internal Traveler assignment for the Neuroscience unit. This is an 13‑week assignment with potential extensions. Requires ability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week, covering any shift, including holidays, weekends, and allows shift differentials.
Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status.
Minimum Education- Completed basic professional curricula of a school of nursing approved and verified by a state board of nursing.
- Diploma or degree in nursing.
- Valid multi‑state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
- BLS and ACLS preferred.
- 1 year related experience in the selected specialty.
- 1 year Registered Nurse experience required; 2 years preferred.
- EPIC charting software experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of disease state management processes, bio‑psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
- Detail oriented in examining clinical and numerical data.
- Utilize the nursing process in caring for assigned patients.
- Complete assessment and individualize plan of care within established unit guidelines.
- Carry out nursing care considering cultural, psychosocial factors and age.
- Organize, prioritize, and perform nursing skills appropriate for the patient population.
- Anticipate patient/unit needs.
- Delegate and communicate effectively.
- Document steps of the nursing process on the appropriate record.
- Record data concisely, consistently, accurately, and legibly.
- Utilize correct medical terminology abbreviations.
- Address problems and progress toward outcomes according to unit policy.
- Facilitate patient teaching and discharge.
- Make timely, appropriate referrals.
- Utilize resources for patient education, considering age and cultural factors.
- Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate.
- Support unit/hospital goals through quality and educational activities.
- Attend mandatory in‑services and meet unit education standards.
- Accurately complete variance reports.
- Independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
- Works directly with patients, internal and external customers, and other healthcare professionals and staff.
