Position: General Surgery – Lumps & Bumps APP (Full Time)

  • Full‑time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) opportunity in a General Surgery – Lumps & Bumps ambulatory clinic.
  • Four (4) 10‑hour shifts per week, offering an excellent work‑life balance.
  • Outpatient clinic‑based position with no inpatient responsibilities.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with common soft tissue and skin lesions, including cysts, lipomas, abscesses, and other benign surgical conditions.
  • Perform in‑office procedures, including incision and drainage (I&D), wound debridement, suturing, and other minor surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with general surgeons to provide comprehensive, patient‑centered care.
  • Suturing skills and/or prior surgical experience are preferred but not required.
  • New graduate nurse practitioners and physician assistants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care:
    Assess, triage, and manage patient/family needs; perform physical examinations; review diagnostics; develop treatment plans; prescribe treatments in accordance with institutional and state guidelines; function as first or second assistant on operative cases when within scope.
  • Patient Education & Psychosocial Support:
    Educate patients/families on care plans and resources; provide psychosocial support as part of multidisciplinary team.
  • Information Management:
    Ensure appropriate documentation and protect information privacy.
  • Quality Management:
    Demonstrate high standard of moral and ethical behavior; ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Professional Development:
    Engage in projects and training to maintain competency; serve as clinical resource and mentor; participate in research, quality assurance, and protocol development.
Qualifications Education

Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Experience

Prefer clinical experience as an NP/PA within the given specialty/service line, but none required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. Evidence of current competence to practice (letters, references) must be obtainable during the appointment process.

Licensure

Active PA Certification (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified; DEA License when indicated; PALS/NURP Certifications as applicable. For NPs:
Active RN or NP License, appropriate board certifications, ACLS/BLS, DEA, PALS, NRP as required. Additional licensure or continuing education may be required during employment.
