• Clinical Care – Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team. Conduct medical histories, physical examinations, review and order diagnostic/therapeutic tests, formulate and manage treatment plans. Perform procedures and prescribe treatment and medications per institutional and state guidelines. May provide autonomous team‑based care and serve as first or second assistant on operative cases within scope and educational prerequisites.
• Patient Education & Psychosocial Support – Educate patients and families on care, treatment plans, medication side effects, and discharge instructions. Offer psychosocial support to patients, families, and significant others in an ethical and professional manner.
• Information Management – Ensure appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements and protect the information of all forms from unauthorized access or disclosure.
• Quality Management – Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care. Ensure compliance with patient‑related healthcare regulatory requirements, standards, and recommendations.
• Professional Development – Engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency. Serve as clinical resource for new house staff, mentor pre‑PA/NP candidates, report safety events and near misses, and collaborate on research, quality assurance, and performance‑improvement initiatives.

• Education – Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Experience – Prefer clinical working experience as a NP/PA within the given specialty/service line, but none required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process with evidence of current competence to practice.
• Licensure – Active PA Certification (NCCPA) with Connecticut State Physician Assistant License; ACLS/BLS Certified (when indicated). For pediatric or neonatal positions, DEA License, PALS, or NRP Certification may be required. For RN/Nurse Practitioner roles, Connecticut State Registered Nurse License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License, and relevant board specialty certifications. Additional licensure, certifications, and continuing education may be required based on position and specialty.
