American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.
Requirements- Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending CT license accepted (allow 15–21 business days for issuance)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Travel experience required
- Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
- Proficient in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia management
- Must have a clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
- Mixed acuity unit with both ICU and step-down (SD) assignments
- Short-term acute care hospital setting within a large Level I Trauma, Academic Medical Center with 1,500+ staffed beds
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Floating to adult ICUs at other campuses is possible
- Charting system:
Epic (required) - Surgical Intensive Care Unit work setting
- Parking available at $125/month
- Provides critical care nursing to a mixed-acuity ICU and step-down patient population
- 13-week contract
- Candidates living within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to return as a traveler
- RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval
- Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
- COVID vaccine required; religious and medical exemptions are accepted
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Non-billable orientation modules must be completed prior to start date and annually thereafter (approximately 4 hours for RNs)
