American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position at a large Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Requirements
  • Active CT or compact RN license required; pending license accepted if active prior to start date (CT license takes 15-21 business days to issue - apply early)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry or cardiac telemetry experience required; candidates with 1.5 years of experience may be considered if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Prior trauma center experience at a large facility required
  • Strong telemetry background required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration
  • Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license are not eligible for this position
Responsibilities
  • Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
  • Cardiac Telemetry unit within a large short-term acute care hospital (1,567 beds)
  • Patient population includes telemetry monitoring cases, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, post cardiac angiogram, pre/post cardiac surgery, and CVA patients
  • Average patient ratios are 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
  • Clinical skills utilized include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (no titration), heparin protocols, thrombolytic agents, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and sheath removal
  • Additional procedures include BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur Evac), CBI, pre/post hemodialysis management, post-TPA care, IV insulin protocols, wound care/wound vac, and peripheral nerve block catheter management
  • Charting via Epic (required)
  • Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
  • On-call is not required
  • This is a Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center
  • Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted; COVID vaccination exemptions are accepted for religious or medical reasons only
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible - local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • RTO exceeding 7 days requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Royal blue scrubs are required
  • Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month
