American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/Telemetry position requiring 2 years of experience and Level I Trauma Center background at a large academic medical center.
Requirements- Active RN license, CT or Compact accepted (must be active prior to start date; pending licenses accepted)
- Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team protocols
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- IV therapy and central/peripheral/PICC line management experience
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
- Work in the Step Down unit of a Level I Trauma Center, short term acute care hospital
- MS/Telemetry patient population requiring cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Average patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on‑call responsibilities
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Provide direct patient care in a busy Step Down unit at a large academic medical center
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center with over 1,000 staffed beds
- Scrub color required is royal blue
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required with only religious or medical exemptions accepted
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital to be eligible unless local rate is accepted
- Returning staff must have been separated from permanent employment for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- Requests for time off greater than 7 days require additional approval
