American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring ventilator and tracheostomy experience.

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Patient ratios average 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float frequently between sister units NP1 and EP 4-6
• Uses Epic for charting
• Patients include overflow vent patients requiring pulmonary vent management and vent weaning, with possible assignment of up to 5 non-vent patients

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; 1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital
• Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
• Ventilator experience required, including care of ventilated patients and non-invasive airway management
• Tracheostomy care and management experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams required
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management experience required
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious/medical exemption only

• Provide nursing care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including ventilator management and weaning
• Facility is a large academic medical center with 1,567 staffed beds
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Travelers must live outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
