Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma Center experience and a CT/compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center
  • General ED serving combined adult/pediatric patient population
  • Average patient ratios of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
  • Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Assigned to one campus with possibility of cross-training and floating to other campuses and ED observation
  • Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic charting system preferred
Requirements
  • Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC required
  • NIHSS and PALS certifications also required
  • ENPC and CPI certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, though 1.5 years from a similar hospital or Level I Trauma setting may be considered
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Experience with patient ratios of 1:5-6 required
  • Skills in psychiatric care, IV therapy, respiratory management, neurological care, and cardiac monitoring required
  • One professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency nursing care in a large academic medical center setting
  • Facility is a Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center with over 1,500 staffed beds
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions granted only for religious or medical reasons
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
  • Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital
  • Open to accommodating block scheduling
  • Assignment length is 13 weeks with willingness to accept longer contracts up to 26 weeks
  • Start dates begin with virtual orientation on Friday, followed by onsite reporting the following Monday
