American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring active CT or compact RN license and prior Level I Trauma experience.
Details- Work in the Emergency Department of a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center
- General ED serving combined adult/pediatric patient population
- Average patient ratios of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
- Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
- Assignment length of 13 weeks with option to extend up to 26 weeks
- Every other weekend shift required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Assigned to one campus with possible float to other campuses and ED observation unit
- Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active CT or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; will consider 1.5 years for candidates with Level I Trauma or travel experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, PALS
- Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
- Experience managing psychiatric patients, including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with neuro-trauma including CVA, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Experience managing shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- Ability to apply and manage orthopedic splints
- Provide emergency nursing care within a Level I Trauma Center setting at a large academic medical center
- Facility is STEMI and Stroke Certified
- Flexible to float within scope to meet facility staffing needs
- Open to accommodating block scheduling
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require advance approval
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
- Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
- Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- One reference required for consideration
