American Traveler is hiring a Chemo-Certified Oncology RN for an outpatient multispecialty clinic role requiring 2+ years of specialty experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Requirements
  • Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I trauma or travel experience)
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Outpatient clinic and phone triage experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Experience accessing and managing ports, starting and maintaining IVs, and administering chemotherapy required
  • Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies, symptom management, and chemotherapy side effects
  • Experience caring for breast cancer patients required
  • One professional reference required for consideration
Responsibilities
  • Outpatient multispecialty clinic setting at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center
  • Cares for Breast Oncology, Breast Surgery, and Plastic Surgery patients
  • Day shift schedule, 4x9 hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Duties include telephone triage, in-basket management, and assisting providers during clinic visits
  • Handles new and return patient visits, pre-op/post-op teaching, and chemotherapy teaching
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Provide comprehensive oncology nursing care including IV therapy, port management, and chemotherapy administration
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management, and pre/post-operative care
  • Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage treatment side effects
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons
  • Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
  • Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a travel employee
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
