American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma Center experience and a CT or compact RN license.
Details- Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department within a large academic medical center
- General ED serving combined adult/pediatric patients with average ratios of 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Assigned to one campus with cross training and floating to other campuses and ED observation units required
- Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Uses Epic charting system
- Open to accommodating block schedules
- Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC; PALS, NIHSS, ENPC, and CPI preferred
- 2 years of ED experience required; 1.5 years considered for candidates from a Level I Trauma Center or with travel experience
- Level I Trauma Center experience required;
Level II experience preferred - Epic experience preferred, especially from a similar large facility (500+ beds, urban location, ED larger than 60 beds)
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, and blood product administration required
- Skilled in managing psychiatric patients, including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
- Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and chest tube management
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation required
- Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and neuro-trauma cases (CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury)
- Experience with shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- Ability to apply splints and manage ortho trauma cases
- Pending license accepted
- One reference required for consideration
- Provide emergency nursing care within a Level I Trauma Center, STEMI-certified, and Stroke-certified facility
- Travelers are obligated to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
- Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital
- Previous perm staff must be separated for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Isolation precautions and PPE use required
