American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level I Trauma Center, requiring CT or Compact RN license and TNCC certification.
Details- Emergency Department setting within a Level I Trauma Center, STEMI certified and Stroke certified facility
- General ED treating combined adult/pediatric patient population
- Average patient ratios of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Will cross-train and float between campuses within scope to meet facility needs
- Assigned to one campus with possibility of rotating to other campuses
- Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active CT state or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC
- Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, PALS
- 2 years of ED experience required, though 1.5 years from a Level I trauma or academic hospital will be considered
- Community hospital experience required
- Level I and Level II trauma experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:5-6
- Epic charting experience preferred
- 1 professional reference required
- Skilled in emergency medications, IV therapy, and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia management
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation preferred
- Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health emergencies, including acute psychosis and suicidal patients
- Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
- Experience with orthopedic trauma and splinting
- Skilled in isolation precautions and PPE use
- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acute conditions including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric emergencies
- Perform 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and interpretation
- Participate in management of multisystem organ dysfunction and shock/trauma cases
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Pending license candidates accepted, though CT license processing takes 15-21 business days so plan accordingly
- Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
- Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
- Every other weekend coverage required with defined make-up shift policies for weekend call-outs
