** position summary:
** this position is responsible for performing all grounds related tasks on the mohegan sun and tribal properties as directed by the groundskeeping supervisory team.
** primary duties and responsibilities****:
** includes but not limited to:
* completes landscaping assignments including planting, fertilizing, weeding, mowing, mulching, and shrub/tree pruning
* removes snow on roadways, walkways and doorways by shoveling, plowing and ice treatments
* operates various vehicles and equipment including skid steers, sweepers, scrubbers, plow trucks, atv’s mowers, trimmers, chain saws, edgers, hedge trimmers, backpack blowers, mulch blowing machines, curbing machines and power washers
* responsible for power washing all designated locations
** secondary duties and responsibilities:
*** assists in maintenance of irrigation systems
* assists other trades, as needed
* responsible for all departmental logs/record keeping labor recording and adheres to all grounds policies and guidelines pertinent to day- to-day job duties
** minimum education and qualifications:
*** high school diploma or equivalent
* four years of experience operating equipment such as parking lot sweepers, lawn mowers, snow plows, tractors and related equipment and various gas powered landscaping tools
* must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the company carrier
** competencies:
** incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
* good written and verbal communication skills
* maintains a clean and safe work environment
** training requirements:
*** knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and routine maintenance
* mandated safety classes
* knowledge of all engineering and grounds related policies and guidelines
** physical demands and work environment:
*** must be able to work in a smoking environment as well as various weather conditions including extreme hot and cold
* frequent bending, stooping, reaching and climbing of ladders
* must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
