We are seeking an accomplished scientific leader to join Bio Med X as Head of Research USA
. In this role, you will serve as the primary mentor and source of strategic project guidance for our early‑career researchers, supporting first‑time independent group leaders in building, managing, and advancing their teams and scientific programs.

This position plays a central role in fostering cross‑leverage and collaboration among the active research groups at our US headquarters in New Haven, Connecticut, and our XSeed Labs incubator in Ridgefield. You will also work closely with our pharmaceutical partners to advance a shared vision of fast‑paced, high‑risk, high‑reward innovation throughout the lifecycle of each project.

As a member of the extended global leadership team, you will contribute to shaping Bio Med X’s scientific project portfolio across all geographies. As the Head of Research USA, you will report directly to the Global Head of Research based in Heidelberg, Germany.

• Demonstrated scientific expertise in at least one core biomedical discipline (molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, oncology, or neuroscience), evidenced by a strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals
• A minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral or post‑PhD experience in biomedical research
• At least 3 years of proven leadership experience, including direct management and mentorship of scientific staff and small R&D project teams
• Hands‑on experience with R&D and drug discovery processes in an industrial setting (life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology sectors)
• Excellent scientific and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across disciplines, cultures, and organizational levels
• Strong ability to distill complex scientific challenges into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership and external pharmaceutical partners
• Proven decision‑making skills in a research and development environment
• International professional experience, with demonstrated effectiveness in global or multicultural settings
• Established track record of successful and responsible budget planning and management
