Our client, a nationally recognized owner and operator of medical office properties, is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join the team at a premier medical office building in New Haven, CT.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of HVAC operations at a single, high-profile facility while working for a stable organization that is investing heavily in both the property and its engineering team.
Why Consider This Opportunity? Dedicated HVAC RoleUnlike many building engineering positions, this role focuses exclusively on HVAC systems. You'll work alongside two onsite Building Engineers who handle general maintenance, allowing you to concentrate on what you do best.
One Building. No Travel.This is a single-site position at a prominent 300,000-square-foot medical office building. No driving between properties and no travel.
Newly Created PositionFor the past decade, HVAC operations have been managed through a third-party vendor. Ownership has made the strategic decision to bring the function in-house, creating an opportunity for the right technician to help shape the role from the ground up.
Complex Commercial Building SystemsThe facility contains a broad range of commercial HVAC and mechanical equipment, providing exposure to:
- Heating and cooling systems
- Hydronic and water-source systems
- Air handling and ventilation equipment
- Building automation and controls
- Central plant and associated mechanical infrastructure
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC and mechanical systems
- Monitor and maintain water-source heat pumps, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, and related equipment
- Respond to HVAC service requests and complete work orders in a timely manner
- Assist with building automation and controls troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Coordinate and oversee outside contractors during major repairs and capital projects
- Support overall building operations as needed
- Active Connecticut HVAC license (D2 minimum)
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- S2 License
- Medical office, healthcare, or large commercial building experience
- Experience with building automation systems and controls
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Large, Class A medical office facility
- Collaborative onsite engineering team
- Limited overtime expectations
- Major capital projects performed by outside vendors, allowing focus on operations, maintenance, and system performance
