Under the general supervision of the Manager, Plant Operations, performs a variety of duties in and around the Hospital complex. Performs repairs to and maintains machinery, systems and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities- Performs hospital coverage duties by maintaining building equipment & systems.
- Maintains building climate by adjusting thermostats, heat, ventilation or air conditioning systems for the comfort of patients, visitors and staff.
- Completes and returns all work orders and equipment maintenance records according to departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Assesses environment for safety hazards which could harm patients, visitors or hospital employees and reports them to appropriate supervisors.
High school diploma, or preferably a graduate from a trade/vocational school or completion of other accredited mechanical, electrical, electronics or plumbing instructional institution.
ExperienceA minimum of 3 years serving an apprenticeship under a mechanical/electrical/plumbing or related trade or 5 to 10 years working in a similar institutional or manufacturing type facility/setting.
LicensurePreferably a P-2, S-2 or D-2 State of CT license.
Special SkillsA very strong working knowledge of HVAC or mechanical or electrical or plumbing or metalwork and/or welding experience.
Physical DemandPhysical effort of lifting 50#, ladder work up to 20 feet, kneeing and exterior work is required. Minor stress due to job requirements, responsibilities and job shift duties.
