Job Summary

Amentum is looking for a Submarine Peculiar Special & Support Equipment Engineering Technician V to provide Program Engineering Services to Commander, Naval Submarine Force Atlantic-COMSUBLANT (TYCOM), Submarine Squadron Six and Eight (CSS-6/8) and Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF New London) Support. This role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, certification and technical support of PSSE equipment in Groton, CT and Norfolk, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and certification of all PSSE equipment, Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, weapon cradles, and ballast cans located in Groton, CT and Norfolk, VA. Assessment and corrective maintenance is performed as needed.
  • Maintain certification by performing required maintenance and minor repairs per PMS, technical manuals, drawings, and TLMD and documenting all maintenance and repairs.
  • Totems, torpedo shapes, harpoon shapes and non‑ordnance variants, AURVS, AURES (Mk 101 & Mk 112), Mk 60 AURS, missile tube ballast cans, AURBb’s, Mk 34 shipping & stowage skids, AERO 51B/E munition trailers, SSN
    688 VLS platforms and handling slings, SSN
    774 VLS platforms, Virginia Payload Tube (VPT) SSN
    774 VLS platforms, TMD slings, CLS ordnance and non‑ordnance handling gear, weight handling equipment, handling slings and beams, deployment stands, torpedo and Tomahawk ancillary gear, VA Class weapon cradles, capsule loading covers, MK‑23 tilt fixture and all empty containers, crew training shapes (CTS), and Mk 793 Mod 0.
  • Weight handling equipment: conduct preventive maintenance and testing of platform lifting slings, ballast‑can lifting slings, adaptor hooks, nylon slings, TMD lifting harness assemblies, taglines, pendent slings, torpedo handling bands and CLS handling bands.
  • Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platform (R‑10): preventive maintenance requires blasting & paint of the entire platform; corrective maintenance includes replacement or repair of damaged or missing hardware, bent grab rails, structural beams, gratings, support legs, corrosion damage, and aluminum bronze bushings.
  • Schedule and conduct preventive maintenance IAW current directives for all 688, VA and Columbia Class platforms (minimum of four procedures annually).
  • Schedule PMS and maintenance per technical manual, PMS schedule, drawings and Test Loads Methods Drawing (TLMD).
  • Perform operational procedures (OPs) on AURVS’s, missile tube ballast cans, AURBb’s, Mk 60 AURSs, TOTEMS, MK‑48 FITMENT shape, TOMFISH, AERO 51 munition trailers, MK‑34, MK‑30, CNU 308 and Mk 793 shipping and storage containers, and torpedo mounted dispensers (TMDs) IAW technical manual and local instructions.
  • Maintain HAZMAT lockers IAW OSHA directives to contain all HAZMAT required to perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Maintain a database of PSSE location and maintenance status (condition code) for all PSSE non‑ordnance equipment and update other Government databases with new information as required.
  • Vertical Launch System (VLS) and VPT loading and maintenance platforms: conduct preventive and corrective maintenance and support all shipping and receiving evolutions.
  • Provide support for all handling services (canning, un‑canning, moving) and stenciling of containers for AURVS/AURES, Mk 60 AURs, crew training shapes (CTS), TOTEMS, torpedo shapes, Mk 101 & Mk 112, ballast cans and AURBb’s.
  • Support transportation of torpedo mounted dispensers (TMDs) and deck skids to and from NAVSTA Norfolk Pier 3, CEP‑204, NWS Yorktown and local contractor facilities.
  • Perform on‑load and off‑load of 688 Class, Virginia and Columbia Class PSSE and non‑ordnance equipment to and from trailers, trucks, submarines and pier facilities.
  • Provide PSSE non‑ordnance technical support on waterfront (pier services) during delivery, loading/offloading and storage of applicable PSSE equipment. Verify all handling and lifting equipment, forklifts, bomb carts, etc. have proper maintenance and certification, and provide SME support for all handling evolutions.
