Overview

In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Yale Health has more than 49,000 members including students, staff, faculty and their families who come from every state in the country and almost every country in the world. With over 50 years of service to the Yale community, our state‑of‑the‑art facility at 55 Lock Street is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers.

It is a 144,000‑square‑foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15‑bed inpatient facility with two negative‑pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x‑ray and ultrasound, and a full‑service retail pharmacy.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Operational and Performance Excellence, the Technical Project Manager oversees all aspects of complex technical initiatives to ensure they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role plays a central part in Yale Health’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure and application landscape, strengthen data connectivity across systems, and advance both clinical and administrative excellence.

The position offers the opportunity to lead meaningful projects that directly support Yale Health’s mission and long‑term strategic priorities.

The Technical Project Manager provides end‑to‑end project leadership for enterprise technology initiatives, including analytics modernization, system integrations, and enhancements to clinical and operational platforms and custom applications.

The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience guiding cross‑functional technical projects involving systems, data, integrations, or infrastructure. They communicate technical concepts clearly, provide transparent reporting to leadership, and navigate ambiguity with confidence. Success in this role depends on the ability to influence without direct authority, build strong relationships across diverse teams, and balance analytical rigor with emotional intelligence to drive impactful results.

Project

Planning and Execution
  • Lead the end‑to‑end planning, execution, and delivery of large‑scale technical projects, including system migrations, integrations, analytics platforms, security initiatives, and custom applications.
  • Adjust plans dynamically in response to shifting priorities, emerging data, or organizational needs.
  • Apply standardized project management methodologies, tools, and governance practices to ensure consistency, transparency, and accountability across technical initiatives.
Team Management and Collaboration
  • Coordinate across IT engineering, Business Intelligence, clinical, administrative teams, and external vendors to ensure alignment with organizational goals, operational roadmaps, and strategic initiatives.
  • Translate technical requirements into actionable project plans and communicate progress, risks, and impacts in a clear, non‑technical manner to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Coordinate vendor activities, timelines, deliverables, and dependencies to ensure contractual and technical expectations are met.
  • Lead effective meetings to track progress, resolve issues, maintain momentum, and ensure alignment among team members.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to measure project success, analyze data to assess performance, and inform strategic adjustments.
  • Provide regular, transparent reporting to IT and organizational leadership to support informed decision‑making on priorities, trade‑offs, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Conduct post‑project evaluations to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Strategic Influence and Relationship Management
  • Influence outcomes without direct authority by building trust and credibility across diverse teams.
  • Navigate resistance with resilience and tact, maintaining focus on long‑term goals.
Analytical and Organizational Excellence
