Job Summary
Light Duty Technician II – DOT Management Level; individual contributor position with flexible work options. Candidates must live in a specified city, state, or region and be able to travel 100% of the time.
Key Responsibilities- Perform certified DOT inspections and preventative maintenance inspections on light and medium duty gas vehicles.
- Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, clutch, differential, power‑steering, engines, transmissions, and air‑conditioning systems.
- Conduct diagnostic work, use test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges), and complete DOT forms and other required documentation accurately and timely.
- Document work order information, upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings in the proprietary application.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors and independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck.
- Communicate with management, team members, dispatch, and customers to receive approvals, discuss repair estimates, and resolve customer issues while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Participate in regularly scheduled safety training and remain up‑to‑date on safety protocols and procedures to maintain a culture of safety and compliance.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Manage a daily schedule independently, prioritize concurrent tasks, and fulfill any emergency roadside service requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED (or higher education/certification in a related field accepted).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field (light or heavy duty preferred, but other combinations are considered).
- Possesses and supplies a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining).
- Age 21 years or older with a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and a 3‑year Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Valid Driver Qualification File and safe‑driver record required.
- Ability to travel 100% of the time and work variable shifts.
