Work Experience Teacher at Cooper High School
- Position Type:
Student Support Services/ Work experience handicapped teacher/coordinator - Team with special education and vocational education staff to provide transition-level services to students with disabilities, ages 15 to 21.
- Provide instruction in areas related to Job Training and Employment in school-based and /or community-based settings.
- Provide vocational coordination to students who are 18 to 21. Assist in locating and developing paid and unpaid work sites, service learning activities, job shadowing experiences and vocational internships.
- Provide Special Education case management for students enrolled in Robbinsdale Transition Center program.
- Participate in the evaluations of students with an emphasis on development of appropriate vocational goals, objectives and plans.
- Demonstrate knowledge regarding community-based vocational training programs(e.g. Hennepin Technical College) and assist students in accessing those programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of community agencies that provide vocational support to adults with disabilities.
- Demonstrate skills in working collaboratively with education- and community-based agencies in development and implementation of plans to address individual student's transition needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Work Experience Handicapped (WEH) license required.
- License in one or more areas of Special Education required.
- Experience in secondary transition service preferred.
- Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
