Controls Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting & optimization of our production and packaging equipment. This role is responsible for electrical & control troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, parts procurement, and providing technical support to ops & maintenance teams.

• Troubleshoot, repair, & maintain control systems and automated equipment, including extruders, dryers, pneumatic conveying systems, packaging lines, palletizers, & material handling systems.
• Support preventive & predictive maintenance programs.
• Partner with Operations & Maintenance to resolve recurring equipment issues & improve reliability.
• Train operators & team members on control systems & equipment functionality.
• Maintain control system backups, documentation, work orders, & maintenance records.
• Assist with spare parts inventory & requisitioning.
• Participate in daily production meetings & continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Associate's degree or two‑year technical degree in a related field.
• 3+ years of controls & automation experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Experience reading electrical schematics & blueprints.
• Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, HMIs, touchscreens, & VFDs.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming & system integration.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, & overtime as needed.

• Leadership or team lead experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, & food manufacturing systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Factory Talk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, Siemens SIMATIC, or WinCC.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, OEE, & 5S principles.

• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, & reach for extended periods.
• Work in hot, humid, cold, & dusty environments.
• Climb ladders & work from lifts at heights up to 35+ feet.
• Perform repetitive grasping, pushing, & pulling throughout the shift.
