Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting & optimization of our production and packaging equipment. This role is responsible for electrical & control troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, parts procurement, and providing technical support to ops & maintenance teams.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, repair, & maintain control systems and automated equipment, including extruders, dryers, pneumatic conveying systems, packaging lines, palletizers, & material handling systems.
- Support preventive & predictive maintenance programs.
- Partner with Operations & Maintenance to resolve recurring equipment issues & improve reliability.
- Train operators & team members on control systems & equipment functionality.
- Maintain control system backups, documentation, work orders, & maintenance records.
- Assist with spare parts inventory & requisitioning.
- Participate in daily production meetings & continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree or two‑year technical degree in a related field.
- 3+ years of controls & automation experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Experience reading electrical schematics & blueprints.
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, HMIs, touchscreens, & VFDs.
- Working knowledge of PLC programming & system integration.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, & overtime as needed.
- Leadership or team lead experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, & food manufacturing systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Factory Talk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, Siemens SIMATIC, or WinCC.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, OEE, & 5S principles.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, & reach for extended periods.
- Work in hot, humid, cold, & dusty environments.
- Climb ladders & work from lifts at heights up to 35+ feet.
- Perform repetitive grasping, pushing, & pulling throughout the shift.
