11:00 am – 5:00 pm (every other weekend – Saturday & Sunday)
Weekday orientation & training required.
Additional $1.25/hr for weekend shift differential.
Position does not require a CNA.
Job SummaryStrives to improve the quality of life for patients/residents by providing appropriate, meaningful activities and interventions on a one‑on‑one and/or group basis. Administers the monthly activity calendar, regularly elicits patient input into activity planning, and keeps activities well organized and upbeat, incorporating state‑required activities such as music, craft, and spiritual activities. Participates in activities appropriate for the patient/department and residents to support and ensure functioning at an optimal level while maintaining dignity and identity.
Assists with transporting patients/residents to and from rooms. Displays creativity and resourcefulness, follows written and verbal instructions, and works under close supervision. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership abilities, strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work with patients/residents who may have strong will or behavioral issues. Prioritizes responsibilities while working autonomously and plans and oversees the utilization of resources and designs work processes.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in social services or creative activities preferred; experience in geriatrics preferred.
- Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
- Preferred current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or enrollment as a student in a healthcare‑related program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CPR training required within six months of hire.
- Must obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Depending on location, role may classify as a Sanford Category I or II Driver, requiring a motor‑vehicle report and proof of a valid driver’s license and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy.
