Accounting Team Lead

An Accounting Role With Purpose and Scope At Arc of Acadiana, accurate financial information supports services for adults with disabilities. As our Accounting Team Lead, you’ll work across multiple programs, departments, entities, and funds in a multimillion-dollar organization. This role is for an accountant who enjoys understanding how transactions flow through the full accounting cycle, solving complex problems, and helping others use financial information to make sound decisions.

You’ll own meaningful accounting work while coordinating daily priorities, reviewing assigned work, and sharing your knowledge with the team. You’ll also help improve processes as Arc implements a new accounting system. Strong accounting fundamentals and the ability to learn our operations matter more than prior experience in disability services.

Full-Time Accounting Team Lead

Reports to:

Accounting Manager What You’ll DoAs the Accounting Team Lead, you will perform hands-on general ledger and reporting work while helping the accounting team maintain accuracy, meet deadlines, and improve its processes.

General Ledger & Close Own assigned components of the monthly and year-end close, including preparing or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.

Apply accounting principles to accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue, allocations, intercompany activity, and fund or program transactions, as applicable.

Investigate discrepancies, assess whether balances and results are reasonable, and resolve issues with clear supporting documentation.

Help maintain an accurate chart of accounts and consistent coding across departments, programs, entities, and funding sources.

Reporting, Analysis & Controls Support the preparation and review of financial statements, management reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and materials for leadership and the governing board.

Analyze financial activity and trends, explain meaningful variances, and help leaders understand what the numbers mean for their programs and decisions.

Maintain clear work papers and documentation; support external audits and respond to auditor requests in coordination with the Accounting Manager.

Help strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls while following applicable accounting standards, fund requirements, and organizational policies.

Team Coordination & Systems Coordinate day-to-day accounting priorities and deadlines.

Provide a first level of review for assigned work, help resolve technical questions, and elevate significant issues to the Accounting Manager.

Partner with program and administrative teams to obtain accurate information, resolve coding or reporting questions, and improve the flow of financial data.

Contribute to the new accounting system implementation, including assigned data migration, testing, documentation, training, and process changes. Work with the implementation partner as needed.

Identify and help carry out practical improvements to workflows, accuracy, reporting, and the team’s use of accounting systems.

At least four years of progressively responsible accounting experience with meaningful exposure to the general ledger, close process, and financial reporting. Comparable depth of experience will be considered.

An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

Strong working knowledge of debits and credits, reconciliations, financial reporting, and the full accounting cycle.

Ability to analyze complex accounts and transactions across multiple departments, entities, programs, or funds.

Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting or ERP software.
