Our work is shaped by the visions and requirements of e-mobility. We mean innovative products with the highest quality and efficient development processes. In Mercedes-Benz development, we shape the automotive generations of the future. We are already working on vehicles and components that will secure the technology leadership of Mercedes-Benz AG in the future.
Our center is responsible for the entire battery development in the drive development area of Mercedes-Benz AG. The customer's desire for a long runtime dictates the high requirements for EV and PHEV battery systems. Well-founded models of aging in batteries are essential for the optimal prediction of the lifespan. Understanding the physical-chemical processes is an important building block for optimizing the models.
These challenges come to you:
- Introduction to the topic of life expectancy and aging mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries
- Use of an existing model framework for the life expectancy simulation of lithium-ion batteries for model parametrization
- Conducting a study on the transferability of models to new cell chemistry and evaluating the model quality for different parametrization approaches
- Development of concepts to improve the prediction quality
- Documentation, presentation, and discussion of the results
The internship takes place in cooperation with a university. The final topic selection is made in consultation with the university, you, and us.
Qualifications- Study:
Course of study in the field of engineering, natural sciences, information technology, or a comparable course of study, ideally with in-depth knowledge in the field of battery technology - Experience and specific knowledge:
Experience with the simulation description of systems - Strong programming skills, especially in Matlab/Simulink
- Secure use of MS Office
- Language skills:
Secure German and English skills in speech and writing - Personal competencies:
Independent, structured, and goal-oriented way of working as well as pronounced analytical thinking
