ER

Tech

Responsible for applying the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation) in caring for patients. Interacts effectively with patients, significant others, and other health team members. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria for the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Assists ER staff with entering patient charges in the computer and maintaining clean ER rooms.

  • 12‑hour shifts, alternating weekends
Education
  • High school diploma
Training / Experience
  • Previous experience preferred, but not required
Job Knowledge
  • CPR
  • Basic knowledge of nursing process/principals
Responsibilities
  • Identifies patient and family education needs and, in collaboration with other disciplines, initiates education needs according to the age of the patient.
  • Participates in departmental and hospital improvement plan.
  • Functions as a positive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of Iberia Medical Center.
  • Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient and organizational data.
  • Consistently lives by Iberia Medical Centers Standards of Performance.
  • Adheres to the Patient Safety Goals.
  • Safely transports and notifies staff of inpatient admits brought to assigned rooms.
  • Correctly enters all patients in the ER logbook.
  • Collects urine, stool, sputum specimens and transports them to lab.
  • Restocks/cleans ER rooms.
  • Assists staff with computer order entry.
  • Assists patients with eating, mobility, dressing, and toileting.
  • Assists staff with obtaining and recording vital signs.
  • Computer entry of patient charges.
  • Demonstrates respect for patients and families.
  • Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care.
