In the Mercedes-Benz Cars development, we design the automobiles of the future. We create innovative products with the highest quality and with the most efficient development processes. We are already working on the vehicles that will secure the technology leadership of Mercedes-Benz in the future.

The center "RD/EP – Digital Powertrain, Prototyping & Testing" is responsible for drive development and the power train test area. This includes the entire product range of our drive systems, from conventional to electric drive technologies.

The RD/EPDT (Digitalization, Data & Tools) department is responsible for digitalization projects, particularly in the testing and system optimization areas. The team "Data Ops & Cloud Enablement Drive Systems" supports all data-driven use cases for drive system development at Mercedes-Benz. This includes all steps from idea generation to professional implementation, from connecting data sources to cloud processes and data analytics and artificial intelligence.

These challenges will come to you, among others:

  • Building and maintaining modular ETL-pipelines (Python/PySpark, Databricks) including onboarding new data sources and data-quality checks
  • Conception and implementation of MCP-servers as interfaces to tools/data sources
  • Building agents with Lang Chain/Llama Index including tool integration
  • Implementation of RAG-pipelines for domain knowledge (indexing, retrieval, ranking)
  • CI/CD for ETL and agents (Git Hub Actions/Azure Dev Ops, packaging/Docker) with automated tests and deployments
  • Technical documentation and knowledge transfer
  • Data evaluation and visualization (dashboards, KPIs)
  • Tech-scouting to AI/ML (literature research, summaries, prototyping/benchmarks)

The position can start in September 2026.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science, media informatics, machine learning, data science or a comparable field
  • Python knowledge (pandas, type checking, clean code structure) and possibly first experiences with PySpark/Data Frames
  • ETL basics
  • Git workflow (branching, PRs, code reviews) and CI/CD basics with Git Hub Actions or Azure Dev Ops
  • LLM/agent basics: prompting, RAG concepts, memory; first practice with Lang Chain or Llama Index
  • ML/AI basics
  • First experiences with API/server development in Python (FastAPI/Flask), JSON-schemas, robust error handling
  • Data analysis and visualization: SQL, pandas, Plotly/Seaborn; optional Power BI or Databricks-dashboards
  • Secure German and English language skills in speech and writing
  • Secure handling of MS-Office
  • Engagement and team capability
  • Analytical thinking and strategic working method

Please note that your internship at this location must have a prescribed compulsory component.
