About the Role

Want to build the data infrastructure that will power the global evolution of digital construction?

The Stuttgart office of Trimble Inc. is looking for a skilled Senior Geospatial Cloud Software Engineer with a strong foundation in cloud technologies to join our engineering team.

The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain backend services that power our scalable, secure, and high-performance geospatial cloud-based applications. You'll collaborate closely with global, cross-functional teams to deliver robust APIs, efficient data processing pipelines, and seamless integrations across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain geospatial backend services using C# (.NET Core /.NET 6+)
  • Build and optimize cloud-native geospatial applications leveraging Azure / AWS / GCP services
  • Implement RESTful OpenAPI spec APIs, data models, and asynchronous processing systems
  • Write Python scripts for automation, testing, data analysis, or integration tasks
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of backend components
  • Integrate and manage SQL and No

    SQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, Dev Ops engineers, and data teams
  • Conduct code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and follow best coding practices
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical design decisions

Required

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable professional experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in backend development using C#  Core
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also considered)
  • Working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation, or backend logic
  • Strong understanding of API design, microservices, and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Production experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server or similar
  • Experience with version control (Git) and agile development methodologies
  • Strong understanding of Linux system administration fundamentals.
  • Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code experience
  • Large scale cloud application experience, with demonstrable ability to troubleshoot and solve production issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with serverless architectures (e.g., Azure Functions, AWS Lambda)
  • Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus)
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines or data engineering using Python and / or Scala / Spark
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Application Insights, ELK, Prometheus, etc.)
  • Experience with geospatial datatypes (coordinate systems raster, vector, point cloud, mesh)
  • Expertise in computer graphics or computer vision, in particular mesh or photogrammetry processing.
