Join Us at SPIE
Artificial intelligence is no longer just about technological demonstrations.
At SPIE, we aim to develop solutions that enhance human capabilities, make processes smarter, and simplify the daily lives of thousands of users.
As part of the Data & AI team, you will participate in creating new solutions based on the latest generative AI technologies.
You will work on real-world problems, with access to data, business experts, and development environments that allow for the rapid transformation of an idea into a high-value product. Our goal is not to experiment with AI for the sake of AI.
We are looking for talents capable of pushing the boundaries of what is possible to create concrete, useful, and deployable solutions on a large scale.
Context and MissionsYou will join a multidisciplinary team composed of business experts, developers, data specialists, and innovation leads.
Your role will be to participate in the design and development of an innovative demonstrator leveraging the latest advancements in Generative Artificial Intelligence.
You will be involved in the entire project lifecycle held in Germany, in Stuttgart at the ARENA 2036.
As a Data Engineer / AI Intern on the project, your objective will be to actively contribute to the design and development of a prototype over a short period, 5 months, from September to January.
Your main tasks will be:
- Business Alignment:
Understand maintenance processes and translate field constraints into logical rules for AI (ensure business value of the final data). - Data Architecture & Pipelines:
Design the ingestion and processing pipeline, from captured audio stream to structured output generation (JSON). - LLM & Prompt Engineering:
Select, test, and orchestrate LLM/SLM to extract key entities accurately (equipment, failure modes, corrective actions). - Mapping & Ontology:
Develop mapping scripts to inject cleaned textual data into the strict fields of various CMMS. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work in pairs with Mobile/Web Developer (API integration) and Business Expert (SME) to refine technical jargon recognition and create a simple and robust interface to capture these data.
Technical:
Development:
Advanced proficiency in Python (FastAPI / Flask) and data manipulation libraries.
AI Ecosystem:
Experience or practice with orchestration frameworks like Lang Chain or Lang Graph.
Language Models:
Understanding of Prompt Engineering mechanics, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and API integration (OpenAI, Hugging Face, or local models).
Knowledge of the Gemini live API is a plus in this context.
Languages:
Fluent English required (project working language). German is appreciated.
Bonus:
Experience with audio signal processing solutions / Speech-to-Text (STT)
Knowledge or interest in cloud architectures (Azure) and containerization (Docker).
Profile Sought:You are a final year student at an Engineering School or specialized Master's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Artificial Intelligence.
You are able to imagine solutions and ask the right questions to overcome constraints.
You have a business sense: you understand that code has value only if it precisely meets the needs of the technician on the field and improves the technical knowledge of the company.
You are driven by the team spirit and communication: you are able to simplify your technical choices and communicate fluently within a multidisciplinary and international team.
SPIE Facilities, a French subsidiary of the European leader SPIE group in multi-technical services in the fields of energy and communications, offers its clients dedicated services for building maintenance and Facility Management across the national territory. It employs 2,600 staff working from 65 locations. Bringing together our differences: SPIE is committed to promoting diversity. The recruitment of employees with disabilities constitutes an important axis of our HR policy.
