The overall function of this position is to ensure that state maintained roads in the assigned parish within our highway system are maintained in accordance with DOTD standards. This position is located in District 03 of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Transportation Operations Manager. The incumbent must be self‑motivated and be able to perform duties many times with minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.
The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

Minimum QualificationsFour years of experience in the construction or maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, railroad rights‑of‑way, levees, airport runways, taxi strips, parking aprons, or parking lots.

Job Duties- Conducts bi‑weekly inspections of all roads in the state highway system within St Landry parish. Establishes priorities to prepare work schedules. Uses Agile to create work orders, utilizing inspection data in making work assignments. Visits job sites. Evaluates performance of subordinates. Ensures the proper reporting activities, manpower, equipment, and material used, by reviewing work reports.
- Coordinates the training program of personnel to ensure that personnel are trained in accordance with DOTD policy.
- Ensures proper maintenance and service of equipment.
- Investigates accidents, reviews accident reports, and conducts weekly tailgate meetings.
- Plans, prepares, & practices for emergency situations and remains ready with personnel, equipment, and materials at all times.
- Routinely responds to complaints by public officials and customers.
- Creates and administers the Performance Evaluation Systems for all subordinates.
- May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities. Responds to emergencies on a twenty‑four hour basis.
Appointment Type: Promotion, only open to current permanent classified employees of DOTD.
A valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License is required before appointment.
