A/R Specialist/Bookkeeper
Montvale, NJ
$70,000
The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing incoming payments, ensuring accurate billing, maintaining customer accounts, and supporting timely collections to optimize company cash flow.
Responsibilities:
- Generate, review, and send customer invoices accurately and on time
- Apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire, credit cards) to accounts
- Monitor accounts to identify overdue balances and follow up on collections
- Resolve billing discrepancies and customer payment issues
- Maintain accurate A/R records and customer account information
- Prepare aging reports and assist with month-end closing activities
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding invoices and payments
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and accounting teams
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable or related accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and A/R processes
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to collections
