Accounting Manager

Location: Parsippany

Description We are looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee core financial operations and deliver accurate reporting for a growing organization in South Plainfield, New Jersey. This position plays a key role in managing the close cycle, maintaining accounting integrity, and supporting compliance with applicable accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on inventory experience, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and annual close activities to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.

- Supervise general ledger operations, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry review, and preparation of financial statements.

- Oversee inventory-related accounting by monitoring valuation, reserve calculations, cost analysis, and reconciliation of inventory accounts.

- Apply and monitor revenue accounting practices to ensure compliance with ASC 606 requirements.

- Manage lease accounting activities and maintain adherence to ASC 842 guidance.

- Strengthen accounting controls, policies, and standard procedures to support compliance and operational accuracy.

- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and FP& A partners to improve inventory visibility and support reliable financial reporting.

- Assist with external audit requests, accounting research, and adoption of new accounting guidance as needed.

- Evaluate financial performance, investigate variances, identify trends, and recommend opportunities to enhance efficiency.

- Support accounting process improvements, including system enhancements and automation efforts that increase accuracy and productivity. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

- At least 4 years of progressive accounting experience; prior leadership experience is helpful, though high-performing Senior Accountants with advancement potential will also be considered.

- Strong hands-on experience managing month-end close activities and general ledger accounting.

- Deep understanding of inventory accounting within a product-based or inventory-driven business environment.

- Demonstrated knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.

- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles.

- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with Net Suite is a plus.

- Background in biotech, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or another inventory-focused industry is preferred.
