Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable
Reports to: Corporate Controller
Summary of PositionThe Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable (AP) is an essential member of the Accounting team and is responsible for owning the AP function, as well as supporting Sales Audit, Vendor Maintenance, Accounts Receivable, and Bank Reconciliations. This role supports the Accounting Manager and Controller in executing key accounting functions and actively participates in the month‑end close process, AP oversight, and other accounting activities as needed.
GeneralDuties & Responsibilities
- Own and manage the full AP process, including oversight of outsourced AP functions and resolving exceptions, issues, and discrepancies
- Provide daily coordination with outsourced AP and Sales Audit providers
- Maintain and oversee the vendor database and communicate with vendors to resolve reconciliation issues
- Support the Accounting Manager and Controller with weekly check and ACH vendor payment runs
- Assist in weekly AP analysis and overall AP reporting and oversight
- Assist in weekly Cash/Accounts Receivable reconciliations for all 3rd‑party delivery services
- Assist Accounting Manager with annual 1099 MISC and 1099 NEC preparation, filing, and reporting
- Support the month‑end close process, including but not limited to:
- Preparing multiple bank account reconciliations
- Preparing reconciliations and any related journal entries
- Performing accrual analysis
- Provide ad‑hoc reporting, analysis, and support to the Accounting Manager and Controller as needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly Pivot Tables and V‑lookups
- Experience in R365 or other similar ERP system preferred
- Detail oriented and excellent communication skills
- Ability to plan, prioritize tasks and work effectively in a team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2‑5 years of experience in AP Accountant role (preferably within the Retail/Restaurant industry)
- Multi‑location and/or multi‑state AP experience preferred
Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 annually
