Accounts Payable Clerk

Description

We are looking for a part-time detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to support a busy finance team in Ramsey, New Jersey. This is a Long-term Contract opportunity with a part-time schedule of approximately two days per week and requires on-site attendance. The person in this role will help manage payment processing activities, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure documentation is organized and complete.

Responsibilities:

- Manage payment distribution activities by organizing digital payment support files and storing them in the correct folders for easy retrieval.

- Update internal tracking tools and supporting repositories with complete and accurate payment details, including documentation entered into designated recordkeeping systems when needed.

- Prepare selected payment records for check processing and ensure each transaction is ready for timely completion.

- Print, scan, and file check copies while maintaining an orderly audit trail for both electronic and paper-based payments.

- Coordinate the mailing of physical payments according to established instructions and required timelines.

- Assist with payment release activities through electronic payment platforms as workload allows, with a focus on high-volume transactions.

- Review payment-related data carefully to reduce errors and support accurate accounts payable processing.

Requirements

- At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related finance support role.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle repetitive payment tasks accurately.

- Experience working independently while managing large volumes of data and documentation.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including data entry, basic navigation, formatting, sorting, and filtering.

- Ability to print, scan, save, and organize files effectively across digital folders.

- Familiarity with invoice processing, coding invoices, check runs, and general accounts payable procedures.

- Exposure to accounting systems, though training can be provided for certain internal tools.
