Overview

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00.
Work HoursThis position is limited to a maximum of 35 hours per week, not to exceed 944 hours in a fiscal year.
Interns generally are required to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Internship AvailabilityThe Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage is accepting resumes for paid internship opportunities for Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026.
Interns will perform a variety of clerical, administrative, supportive tasks, and customer service duties in connection with proceedings instituted before the Court. They may assist with data entry, information retrieval, filing, making photocopies, etc. Hours and days worked are flexible but must be between 8:30AM and 4:30PM Monday through Friday excluding State holidays.
Roles and Responsibilities- Assist with answering phones, returning phone calls, and receiving and distributing voicemails.
- Contact and follow‑up with applicants, defendants, court users, and/or members of the public.
- Organize and scan paper files/filings by parties and upload scans into an electronic filing system.
- Perform special projects.
- Conduct research and analysis.
- Perform computer related work.
- Collect and enter data.
- Provide customer service.
- Draft correspondences and memos.
- Observe client interviews and court proceedings.
- Attend community planning meetings.
- Assist staff and perform other duties as directed.

Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university, with thirty credit hours earned (or for certain divisions, credit hours earned from a behavioral or social sciences program). An unofficial college or university transcript must be included with the application.
Physical RequirementsAbility to perform work that requires climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds.
Other RequirementsA driver’s license may be required if operating a vehicle. The applicant must be authorized to work in the US under Department of Homeland Security/USCIS regulations. A thorough background check that includes fingerprinting is required. New employees must establish principal residence in New Jersey within one year of hire.
