We are looking for a hands‑on automotive mechanic to join our Returns team as a Quality Control – Auto Parts Returns Specialist. This position is responsible for inspecting automotive parts that are returned by customers and determining whether the part is actually defective, damaged, mechanically failed, or functioning as expected.

This is not a repair position. The primary responsibility is to use your automotive mechanical knowledge and diagnostic experience to inspect returned parts, identify potential mechanical problems, and accurately document your findings. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience working with engines, transmissions, drive trains, and other automotive components and can confidently determine whether a mechanical component has failed or is functioning properly.

This role will be worked at our West Deptford warehouse and pays $20 – 24/hr

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect returned automotive parts and determine whether the part is defective, damaged, mechanically failed, or functioning as expected.
• Evaluate engines, transmissions, drive trains, and other automotive components using hands‑on mechanical knowledge.
• Perform basic diagnostic and functional checks to determine the condition of returned parts.
• Identify signs of mechanical failure, damage, excessive wear, improper installation, or other potential defects.
• Use common hand and power tools as needed during inspections and diagnostic checks.
• Determine whether a reported mechanical issue is supported by the condition of the returned part.
• Clearly document inspection findings, including the condition of the part and identified issues.
• Enter inspection results and update return or inventory information in the appropriate warehouse/software system.
• Communicate inspection findings to the Returns team to support decisions regarding the disposition of returned inventory.
• Assist with determining whether returned parts should be returned to inventory, rejected, or otherwise dispositioned based on inspection findings and established procedures.
• Load and unload automotive parts and other inventory as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required tools and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on automotive mechanical experience.
• Experience working with engines, transmissions, drive trains, or other automotive components.
• Ability to diagnose and identify mechanical problems and potential component failures.
• Strong understanding of automotive mechanical systems and components.
• Ability to perform basic diagnostic and functional checks.
• Ability to distinguish between normal wear, damage, and actual mechanical failure.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to make objective determinations based on inspection findings.
• Ability to clearly document inspection results.
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter information into inventory, warehouse, or other software systems.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on inspection findings.
• Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work safely in a warehouse/automotive environment.
