Role Summary
Senior National Account Manager - Optum Rx Customs will lead relationships with targeted payer accounts to influence patient access and formulary decisions for Novo Nordisk products. The role involves building and maintaining strategic partnerships with national payers and PBMs, coordinating cross-functional teams, and developing long-term accounts plans that expand access and deliver mutual value. The position works within the National Account Market Access teams to optimize access strategies and engagement with customers across the health care ecosystem.
Responsibilities- Drive formulary placement for NNI products by leading RFP responses, managing the process from customer request to signed contract.
- Represent the National Accounts team in Pre-Pricing Committee and other pricing and contracting discussions; provide input/insights to PCOR and S&I teams.
- Continuously assess contract performance and contribute to pricing strategy and downstream policy impacts.
- Identify and build a broad network of key stakeholders and decision makers at all levels, including C-suite, within customer accounts to develop and sustain impactful relationships.
- Collaborate with downstream account teams and relevant stakeholders; lead interactions with aligned regional accounts and drive bottom-up influence for formulary decisions; coordinate with regional accounts on contracting and pull-through execution.
- Evolve customer engagement strategy and approach; establish relationships beyond formulary access and develop mutually-beneficial solutions.
- Assemble and coordinate in-house functions to deliver cohesive strategy and solutions for the customer.
- Master product and disease-state knowledge; discuss placement in treatment continuum, utilization, and guidelines; articulate clinical data to peers and decision makers; position NNI products against competitors.
- Develop and execute multi-year business plans that include contracting and engagement strategies to meet goals; monitor performance against qualitative and quantitative metrics; identify opportunities aligned with market access and brand goals.

Ensure timely and compliant reporting (expense reports, CRM usage).

Master's Degree in a business-relevant field - Preferred:
Previous experience as a people manager - Required:
A minimum of 4 years successful account management experience or other relevant experience within the healthcare market; relevant Novo Nordisk experience may be substituted, where appropriate - Required:
At least 9 years pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare industry experience - Preferred:
Multiple channel and targeted customer experience - Required:
Demonstrated ability to deliver effective customer presentations
- Bachelors Degree required
- Masters Degree in business-relevant field preferred
- 50-75% overnight travel required
- Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must be in good standing by not exceeding Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records
