We are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to join a growing estimating team. This role requires a strong background in civil/site work estimating, including earthwork, underground utilities, grading, drainage, road work, and complete site development for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
The ideal candidate understands how projects are built in the field, can accurately evaluate production rates and project risks, and is capable of preparing complete, competitive bid packages from concept through submission.
Responsibilities- Perform quantity takeoffs from civil plans and specifications
- Estimate earthwork, utilities, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, grading, drainage, paving, concrete, and related site work scopes
- Utilize Bid2
Win or similar estimating software to prepare and manage estimates - Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents
- Analyze labor, equipment, trucking, material, subcontractor, and overhead costs
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and operations teams to develop accurate pricing
- Assist with bid strategy, project risk evaluation, scheduling, and production planning
- Prepare bid summaries, scope clarifications, and proposal packages
- Support project handoff to operations following award
- Mentor and support junior estimators as needed
- 7–10+ years of site work estimating experience
- Strong understanding of residential, commercial, and industrial site development
- Experience estimating earthwork and underground utility projects
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical information
- Experience with Bid2
Win or comparable estimating software - Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Understanding of production rates, equipment costs, trucking, labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience with large residential developments, commercial site work, warehouses, roads, utilities, and complex grading projects
- Familiarity with Bid2
Win, Trimble, GPS modeling, earthwork software - Field experience or exposure to site operations
