Construction Inspector

Inspect heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations
Conduct daily site inspections
Perform material testing
Maintain daily logs of materials and project progress
Ensure compliance with Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) standards
Observe work in progress and inspect paving, drainage, and structural elements
Prepare daily inspection reports and document materials, workforce, and equipment quantities
Monitor work zones for safety measures and OSHA compliance
Identify unsafe conditions and enforce environmental regulations such as erosion control
Assist Resident Engineers with submittals, pay-item tracking, and monthly estimates of completed work

• 3+ years of experience in Heavy Highway construction
• NICET II and above certification
• ACI Field Grade I certification
• NJSAT certification
• Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator) certification
• Ability to read complex blueprints
• Strong written communication and technical writing skills
• Familiarity with agency electronic record systems, including Site Manager and Cap Ex
• Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation or New Jersey Turnpike Authority standards
• Reliable personal vehicle for travel to and from job sites
• Excellent computer skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook

Demonstrates expertise in heavy highway construction, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Proficient in conducting inspections, material testing, and technical documentation while utilizing agency electronic record systems.
