Special Inspector – NYC & NJ

We are seeking experienced Special Inspectors to support a growing portfolio of construction projects across the five boroughs of NYC and parts of New Jersey. This is a hands-on, field-focused role involving major infrastructure upgrades and large-scale building developments.

• Perform Special Inspections in accordance with NYC Building Code – Chapter 17
• Conduct on-site inspections across diverse project types in NYC and NJ
• Observe pile installations and geotechnical conditions for code compliance
• Verify construction activities align with approved drawings and specifications
• Prepare accurate, timely, and defensible inspection reports
• Coordinate with contractors, project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
• Identify deficiencies and communicate corrective actions
• Maintain strict adherence to jobsite safety requirements
• Support additional inspection scopes as projects evolve

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture
• Minimum 3+ years of inspection experience on NYC projects
• Strong working knowledge of Chapter 17 and related inspection requirements
• 5+ years of NYC/NJ construction inspection experience preferred

NY or NJ P.E. license (Preferred)

ICC Special Inspector Certifications (any of the following):

• Reinforced Concrete
• Structural Masonry
• Structural Steel & Bolting
• Structural Welding
• Soils
• Mechanical

ACI Certifications (any of the following):

• Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I

NICET certifications (Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems preferred)

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety (required)

• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating with teams
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous professional development

• Field-based role on active construction sites
• Regular walking, climbing, standing, and navigating uneven terrain
• Exposure to outdoor and jobsite conditions
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Local travel throughout NYC and nearby areas required
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
