POSITION: Rising Stars Summer Theatre - Backstage Supervision (Teacher)
REPORTS TO: Rising Stars Director
Overview:
Stone Bridge Middle School is seeking an organized, enthusiastic, and collaborative teacher to support our Rising Stars Summer Theatre Program. The candidate will provide supervision and support for student performers during show week. The ideal candidate will have experience working in theatrical settings and demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and student management skills. This role is an excellent opportunity to work with a passionate team, help create an unforgettable theatrical performance, and serve as a mentor to young performing arts students.
Must be available, 8:45AM - 1:45PM, Monday through Wednesday August 3 - August 5, 2026. Must also be available in the evening during Show Week - Tuesday through Thursday August 4 - 6, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students backstage during rehearsals and performances
- Coordinate and assist with costume and wig changes for student performers
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive backstage environment.
- Monitor student behavior and ensure adherence to school and camp expectations
- Collaborate with the director and technical director to support production needs.
- Help manage props, costumes, and backstage materials to ensure proper use and organization.
- Support students in developing responsibility, teamwork, and professionalism in a theatrical setting.
- Attend required rehearsals and performances.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Rising Stars Summer Theatre Director.
- Valid NJ teaching certificate.
- Experience working in theatre productions, performing arts programs, or theatrical backstage operations.
- Knowledge of costume changes, wigs, props, and backstage production procedures.
- Experience supervising school-aged students in performance settings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with production staff and students in a fast paced environment
