Location: Moonachie
Responsible for Video Migration in the studio. Accurate and timely completion of projects including troubleshooting of issues is expected. Knowledge of both vintage and new formats is essential. Attention to detail and understanding of signal flow within the studio is required. The Video Operator will also be required to perform research based on project bids. Works closely with the Studio Video Supervisor and Studio Video Lead to ensure appropriate service to client.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY...
Iron Mountain Entertainment Services (IMES) is seeking a Video Operator with direct industry experience with historic video recording formats, video media migration (digitization), restoration, remediation, reformat and mastering in the digital studio space. This role will take direction from the Studio Manager and work closely with project management teams to successfully complete client requests up through delivery. The role requires a fundamental understanding of historic analog and digital video formats and the technology used for manipulation/conversions of these assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ...
• Point of contact for video information exchange with clients and internal teams.
• Audio asset inbounding/outbounding, triage/research and asset migration preparation, asset box scanning, migration (digitization), quality control, restoration, remediation and reformat in the digital studio space
• Troubleshoot, calibrate and general maintenance/upkeep of existing equipment
• Recommend and test new and used equipment (hardware and software) including software version, driver and firmware update management
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS...
• Familiarity with historic analog and digital video formats
• Working knowledge of multiple Digital Video Workstation (DAW) platforms (MAC/PC):
Including but not limited to:
Telestream, AJA, Black Magic, Final Cut Pro
• Familiarity with rich media archive organization, inventory and tracking
• Detailed Archival and Work Log generation - detailed asset tracking of all production work and metadata
• Familiarity of restoration, remediation, stabilization of analog and digital video media. Able to identify deterioration and recommend/execute remediation for safe playback/capture
• Familiarity with secure electronic and physical file delivery systems
• Set-up and configuration of video equipment: analog to digital, digital to digital and digital to analog, clocking, synchronization, calibration
• Attention to detail / quality control: consistent monitor of level, sound quality/fidelity
• Familiarity with backup solutions: digital archiving to server and LTO
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and work with tight delivery deadlines
• Exceptional capabilities tied to effective collaboration, communication, listening, negotiation, assertiveness, self-management, and accountability is expected. Position requires daily interaction and with individuals in a studio and business environment to deliver on goals.
• Bachelor Degree, Certificate from an accredited audio recording, music production, multi-media, media archive management school or technical program or; comparable work experience is highly preferred
• Membership and participation with local and national technical associations including but not limited to: SMPTE, Association of Moving Image Archivists AMIA, International Council on Archives ICA
