Job SummaryTYLin is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Aviation (Terminal Design) to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex airport terminal projects for major aviation programs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a globally recognized aviation practice and contribute to the transformation of some of the world’s most important airport facilities.
We are looking for a project manager with a strong background in airport terminal design and redevelopment, who has successfully led multidisciplinary design teams on major terminal projects in the United States or internationally. The successful candidate will have experience coordinating architects, engineers, planners, specialty consultants, airport stakeholders, airlines, and operational teams to deliver innovative, functional, and passenger-focused terminal environments.
Responsibilities & Qualifications The OpportunityAs Project Manager – Aviation (Terminal Design), you will be responsible for managing the design and delivery of complex airport terminal projects from concept development through construction support.
You will serve as a key leader within multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring design excellence while balancing operational requirements, passenger experience, sustainability goals, technical standards, budget constraints, and schedule objectives.
This role requires a strong understanding of airport terminal planning, architectural design coordination, aviation operations, and the complexities of delivering projects within active airport environments.
Responsibilities- Lead the design delivery of major airport terminal projects, including new construction, renovations, expansions, and modernization programs.
- Manage multidisciplinary design teams including architects, engineers, planners, interior designers, aviation specialists, and specialty consultants.
- Serve as the primary project interface with airport owners, airlines, tenants, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinate all phases of terminal design, including programming, concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
- Develop and manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing plans, and delivery strategies.
- Facilitate design coordination meetings and ensure alignment between architectural, engineering, operational, and stakeholder requirements.
- Guide teams through complex design challenges related to passenger flow, security, baggage handling, concessions, accessibility, and airport operations.
- Review and manage design deliverables, technical submissions, and quality assurance processes.
- Coordinate with construction teams to support constructability reviews, phasing strategies, and implementation planning.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain design quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
- Prepare executive-level presentations, project reports, and client communications.
- Mentor junior project managers and contribute to the continued growth of TYLin’s Aviation practice.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive experience managing airport terminal design and redevelopment projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering major terminal projects at commercial airports in the United States or internationally.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex aviation projects.
- Strong understanding of airport terminal planning, architectural design, passenger processing, and operational requirements.
