Millwork Engineer / Draftsman
We are seeking a Millwork Engineer / Draftsman to join our team and support the design, drafting, engineering, and CNC production of custom architectural woodworking projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong AutoCAD skills and an interest in architectural millwork and CNC manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for architectural woodworking and millwork projects.
- Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate shop drawings.
- Prepare and modify drawings based on project specifications, field conditions, and client/architect feedback.
- Prepare CNC machine programs using CAD/CAM software such as WoodWOP, WoodCAD|CAM, and Cut Rite.
- Collaborate with project managers, production teams, engineers, and shop personnel to ensure drawings accurately translate into finished products.
- Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, dimensions, materials, and hardware.
- Assist with troubleshooting design and production issues.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work independently while contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD — this is the primary skill required for the position.
- Experience creating and reviewing shop drawings is strongly preferred.
- Experience with woodworking, cabinetry, carpentry, architectural millwork, or custom fabrication is highly preferred.
- Experience with WoodCAD|CAM or Microvellum/iX is a strong plus.
- CNC programming experience is beneficial, but training can be provided for candidates with strong AutoCAD skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of dimensions, materials, fabrication, and construction methods.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before production.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Must be team-oriented and able to communicate effectively with production and project management teams.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time position
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
- On-site position — not eligible for remote work
- Collaborative environment with opportunities to develop additional CAD/CAM and CNC programming skills.
