About Students 2 Science:
Students 2 Science's mission is to inspire and empower all students through hands-on learning experiences, encouraging them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to strengthen the future workforce. Through Students 2 Science's STEM programs, students will build a greater understanding of STEM, enhance technical skills, and be provided with information and guidance on STEM education and career pathways.
Description:
- This is an in-person position at our Apollo Technology Center in Whippany, NJ.
- Interns will receive compensation at the rate of $20 per hour and/or college credits (with signed approval from appropriate parties within their college or university).
- Interns will gain meaningful hands-on work experience, develop technical lab skills, and develop foundational skills for the professional world.
- Interns will be immersed in the daily operations of program development and implementation with the support of your internship team and leadership.
- This position is a minimum of 14 hours a week. Interns will work at least two (2) full-day shifts | 8:00 a.m.
- 3:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday). Internship assignments are based on program capacity and intern availability provided during the selection process. Final schedules are indicated in offer letters and remain fixed. Failure to maintain the designated final schedule may result in removal from the position.
- Provide support for and encourage success for students participating in the day's laboratory session.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and comfortable work environment for all students, teachers, and S2S staff members inside and outside of the lab.
- Stage and prepare a clean work environment for the following day.
- Assist lab instructors in the daily operations of program development and implementation.
- Attend weekly meetings with instruction team and one-on-ones with your project manager.
- Participate in all work-readiness and professional development programming and assignments.
- College student from a community college, college, or university.
- Major or concentration area is in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or similar major) or Education
- Completed at least 30 hours of college coursework at the time of applying.
- Completed Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus at the high school or college level.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Good auditory and visual skills are required.
- Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check administered by Students 2 Science.
- Possess strong organization, interpersonal, and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with youth is a plus.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Elementary: September 21 - December 11 | Middle School & High School: September 21 - December 14
- Interns are assigned to a specific track. However, assignments may be adjusted as needed to align with program priorities and needs.
